About these Birthday Cupcake Toppers
Cupcakes have quietly taken over from the single cake at a lot of birthdays, mostly because nobody has to cut them and there is no argument about who got the corner piece. A tray of them with a matching topper on each one photographs better than a cake as well, which is not the reason anybody gives but is usually part of it.
The designs run from first birthdays through to the milestone ages, with the number available on most of them and a name on the personalised ones.
Pre-cut and printed to order on icing sheet or wafer paper in my studio in Mallow, County Cork. Fifteen at 5cm covers a standard batch and thirty at 3.8cm covers a class. Dispatch is 2 to 4 working days by An Post, so order the week before rather than the night before. Edible or non-edible, here's how each one works.
Are these edible or non-edible?
Both are available, and each product page says clearly which one it is. Edible toppers are printed on icing sheet or wafer paper. Non-edible toppers are printed on cardstock or glitter card and are decorative only, not for eating.
How do I put the topper on?
Edible toppers peel from their backing and lay straight onto buttercream or fondant. Non-edible toppers are inserted into the cake or display on a stick or stand, listed on the product page.
Will the colours match what I see on screen?
Close, but not always exact. Edible printing in particular can come out slightly softer than a backlit screen shows. Cardstock and glitter card hold colour more true to screen.
What name and wording can go on it?
Most designs take a name and age or a short message, entered in the personalisation box on the product page. I set it into the design exactly as you type it, so double check spelling before ordering.
How long do they take, and how long do they keep?
Made to order and dispatched within 2-4 working days. Edible toppers are best used within a day or two of the cake being finished, you can keep edible toppers stored in cold dark place but not in fridge for up to 6 months. Non-edible toppers can be made well in advance and kept until the day.
Can you do a custom design not shown in the shop?
Often, yes. Message me with the theme or the cake you're planning and I'll let you know if it's possible and what it would cost
